After School Programs
At Monteverdi, we are constantly looking for the next best way to engage young people in music and believing in their own creations. Each year, since launching after school programming in fall 2023, we try to take lessons learned and move in the direction that our students and families are most excited about.
In the 2024-2025 school year, we hosted a booming Mighty Music Makers group for 1st-3rd graders, a Youth Chorus and a Modern Music Ensemble, both for 4th-6th graders. We saw incredible creative and musical growth and opportunity in each of these (check out photos, music, and a stop-motion animation video below from those programs). And as aways, we try to use those experiences to inform what we believe will be the “best” programs to offer the community this fall.

Full Tuition: $33/week; Supported Tuition: $17/week ($1,254 or $646 annually)
We launched the Mighty Music Makers in the fall of 2023 with a hearty pilot crew of 18 students, and we’ve been rocking and rolling ever since! This general music program for 1st-4th graders is based in the music room at Union Elementary School in Montpelier. With deep appreciation to the MRPS district for sharing their space, our faculty lead these tiny musicians through all kinds of fun, curious, and mysterious musical pursuits. Students need not have any prior music background or lessons, just a good attitude and a willingness to listen and try. We will work with your tiny musicians to discover their musical voice and most creative selves.
This year, we are able to increase capacity by offering two different days of this program. They spots are meant for unique enrollees, but if we do not fill up, we will happily open them up for those interested kiddos to take two days of MMM.
Mighty Music Makers runs Sep - Jun, following the school calendar for cancellations; when school is cancelled, so are we. In 2025-2026, there’s 1 early release on Tues, Dec 23; Mighty Music Makers will not meet that day. Feel free to email info@monteverdimusic.org with any questions!

Last summer, guitarist, Monteverdi teacher, musical mastermind, kid whisperer, frisbee player, and generally awesome human Matt Delligatti conceived of an afterschool music program for older kids who don’t need aftercare, but want a fun, engaging place to go between school and home. The Modern Music Ensemble program ran every Monday for the whole 2024-2025 school year. The roughly 7 students did everything from try new instruments, write & record songs, conceive of multimedia installations, eat snacks, make videos, and play frisbee in the back. This fall, we are changing it up again to run FIVE distinct classes at the same Thursday @ 3:30 slot. We hope this will be easier for schedules of super-active kids to jump in here and there. The first session of the year will be SONGWRITING and will run for 9 weeks: Sep 4 thru Oct 30.

SESSION 2: HOLIDAY JAM. Nov 6, 13, 20, Dec 4, 11, 18 (6 classes)
