A lifelong musician, Misha Bell Mross grew up in Vermont playing piano casually from a young age, and hearing music from all over. He went on to play bass guitar in bands outside of school, and develop a style built around musical tensions which has shaped his compositions ever since.

In 2004, Misha attended an Electronic Music Production course at the School of Audio Engineering in NYC; that experience was a pivotal point in his journey to learn more about analog and digital synthesis, signal processing, and sound design. His interests also led him to study Math and Physics and eventually begin a career in Engineering Physics at Vermont Photonics in 2009, composing and exploring music all the while.

In 2011, he released an EP with vocalist Amber Schaefer under the Starfawn which is on Spotify and other streaming platforms. Misha decided to leave his engineering work just over 2 years ago to pursue music composition and production full time. In early 2026, he began releasing new music again under the name Mishabell.
