Mary Bonhag
Voice - Soprano

Mary brings over 15 years of teaching experience, a love of helping others to learn, and extensive knowledge of classical vocal repertoire, diction, language, technique, and physiology to the Monteverdi School.  She is well known around Vermont as a soloist and concert presenter, performing regularly with TURNmusic, VSO Jukebox, Capital City Concerts, Craftsbury Chamber Players, and Scrag Mountain Music (where she is Co-Artistic Director with her husband, bassist/composer Evan Premo).  She remains an active recitalist and concert performer across the country at diverse music festivals including Cactus Pear (TX), San Francisco Contemporary Players, 21st Century Consort, Five Boroughs Festival, Stanford Live, and Yellow Barn.  She has been presented in recital at Dartmouth, Smith, Goucher, and University of Vermont, and has had fellowships at SongFest and Tanglewood where she received the Grace B. Jackson Prize.  Mary has premiered and commissioned works by Susan Botti, Lembit Beecher, C. Curtis-Smith, Evan Premo, Shawn Jaeger, and Evan Chambers.  She has been featured on the NPR shows Performance Today and From the Top and appears on Albany Records.  She is a full member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing).
