Music for an Autumn Afternoon
Saturday November 5, 2022 at 2pm
The Monteverdi Music School faculty will present "Music for an Autumn Afternoon" at the Unitarian Church at 130 Main St. in Montpelier. The concert will benefit the Monteverdi Music School Scholarship Program–an essential fund that provides equal access to lessons for our community. There is a suggested $20 donation at the door and youth under 18 are free. You will hear solo acts and chamber groups performing the works of a wide variety of composers, including local composers. Styles of music will range widely from Baroque to Traditional and new music.
Monteverdi Music School is a community-based music education nonprofit in the heart of Montpelier offering lessons for all ages and abilities in a variety of styles and instruments. The faculty comprises some of the finest professional musicians in our state, and they are passionate about keeping music accessible in Vermont. Please join us on November 5th at 2:00 pm to support our local performers and help raise funds to ensure the next generation of musicians has access to lessons.

Our 2020 program included original works by Michael Close (spaghetti western style flute, viola, cello trio, complete with desert wind and shoot out), Erik Nielsen, and Nancy Reid Taube; folk fiddle and soulful song from Katie Trautz; heart rending and inspiring vocals from Erik Kroncke accompanied by Mary Jane Austin, Lindsey Warren, Nora Zablow, and Counterpoint; soulful trumpet from Ron Thompson; virtuoso recorder from Werner John; Bach from Liz Reid, violist, and Deb Smoller, pianist, plus Mozart from J.D. Williams, pianist; Romanian Fantasy for fiddle, clarinet, accompanied by accordian and piano from Zoe Christianson - all parts played by Zoe!; and a live duo from host Lisa Carlson, flutist, with daughter Clara Carlson-Kirigin on viola!
