Jenni recently relocated to the area from out west and is happily taking new students. She has 23 years' experience teaching fiddle, guitar, voice, piano, ukulele, and mandolin. She finds so much joy teaching all ages -- beginners and experienced folks, alike! She loves to teach the beginner violinist, pianist or mandolinist to read music and watch it open up their world exponentially.
Starting at age 5, Jenni studied Suzuki violin for 5 years. She continued her education after that learning old-time, bluegrass, classical, and pop. As a kid, she joined in old-time fiddle contests, played in orchestra, and largely taught herself pop music by ear. She even played in her family's classic country band! At UC Santa Cruz she studied Philosophy, Jazz Violin, and Early Childhood Education. She has been in many bands over the years and can help get your band going or teach you how to play with others so you can join one! Jamming is a big part of her life and she can teach you how to make music with others and feel comfortable in any setting playing mostly any style of music.
When she isn't teaching, you can find her playing shows with her husband as a duo, or in their band, Dead Winter Carpenters, a nationally touring alt rock/bluegrass group that goes back nearly 15 years.
