Workshops and Master Classes

Monteverdi faculty and invited guests offer occasional classes for larger groups of students. Workshops focus on a particular topic, where the instructor shares his or her experience with a group of students and invites them to learn about it through active participation. Our masterclasses are essentially open lessons, where students prepare pieces, perform them in front of the class, and then receive coaching from the teacher and feedback from peers.

Examples from fall 2009 include a class on stage fright and how to deal with it, jazz improvisation, practice techniques, and choral conducting. These workshops are open to the public, providing a bridge to the community and a wonderful introduction to the school.
