A Calendar of Music Events in the Local Community
2010 Fall Semester Begins!

We are excited to welcome musician of all ages and abilities to our 2010 fall semester. Join us for individual lessons with our extraordinary faculty and workshops and masterclasses led by Monteverdi faculty and guests from the Central Vermont music community. This year we are also offering an expanded chamber music program in collaboration with Green Mountain Youth Symphony, with weekly coaching sessions by faculty and GMYS musicians.

PAST EVENTS

Summer Rock Camp with Jay Ekis

July 26 – 30, 9 to noon daily
Location TBA

All instruments welcome, basic skills preferred. We will learn a variety of songs from the classic rock repertoire, have fun playing them in small groups and together as a rock band. Jay Ekis, guitar teacher and local rock legend, will give supportive and intensive daily coaching, and the week will end with a triumphant performance for family and friends.

Artists in Residence: Sky Meadow Chamber Players

The Monteverdi Music School was proud to have the Sky Meadow Chamber Players in residence June 20–27 for a weeklong festival of rehearsal and performance. The group gave two workshops, open to the public, and two concerts.

The educational component of the residence included two masterclasses, open to the public:

The concert program included Brahms, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff and Ravel. Concerts were held in Montpelier and Waterbury:

Sky Meadow Chamber Players, founded by Monteverdi faculty members Mary Jane and Paul Reynolds, is an organization dedicated to bringing lively and innovative musical programming, with the highest level of artistic excellence, to our audience. We also support music education in various ways in the communities we serve. Our musicians have been concertmasters, principal players of some of the countries most renowned orchestras and have played with many of America's premier string quartets and ensembles.

 

Monteverdi Faculty Gala

Saturday, May 15, 8:00 pm
Unitarian Church, Main Street, Montpelier

Join Monteverdi faculty members and friends as they perform some of their favorite music. Community members are warmly welcomed.

The program includes works by Verdi, Mozart, Scriabin, Shostakovich, Bach and more, and will be followed by a reception with desserts prepared by NECCI. Admission is free, and donations to benefit the Monteverdi Music School programs will be gratefully accepted.
