Improv Workshop with Andrew Moroz

Sunday, April 3
Unitarian Church, Main Street, Montpelier, 4–6 pm

Trombonist and pianist Andrew Moroz gives a workshop focusing on the art of improvisation in jazz and various other styles. Geared toward the intermediate/advanced student, this class will delve into theory and practice techniques which will be explored through listening and playing.

Workshops are free (donations always welcome) and open to the public. We thank the Vermont Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts for making our workshops possible.

Monthly Student Recital

Friday, April 8
Unitarian Church, Main Street, Montpelier, 6 pm

Join us as Monteverdi students of all ages and abilities perform the works they have polished and are working on. Community members are warmly welcomed.

Master Class of Voice and Music Interpretation

Saturday, April 9
Unitarian Church, Montpelier, 4–6 pm

Open to singers who have a song or aria to work on. Monteverdi voice teacher and acclaimed opera singer Erik Kroncke will provide guidance and advice on voice production and song interpretation.

Having performed on stages throughout the world and with fifteen years teaching all voice types, abilities, ages, and styles, Mr. Kroncke has a unique and exciting perspective to bring to any singer in any song, and his enthusiasm and expertise will make this a dynamic and enriching experience for audience and performer alike. He will be joined by Mary Jane Austin, renowned pianist, accompanist and vocal coach.

Workshops are free (donations always welcome) and open to the public. Please come if you can, tell your singer friends, colleagues, and students about it too.

To register, call the school at 229-9000. But if you miss registration, please just come on Saturday anyway -- there may be room for you to participate.

Montpelier Chamber Music Concert

The next Montpelier Chamber Orchestra concert will feature Monteverdi Music School cello teacher and resident composer, Michael Close. The orchestra will premiere his "Tango," and he will be soloist in Tschaikovsky's "Andante Cantabile."

ROSSINI: Signore Bruschino Overture
MICHAEL CLOSE: Tango (premiere)
TCHAIKOVSKY: Andante Cantabile (featuring Michael Close, cello)

Vocal and Musical Theater Workshop

Saturday, November 6
Wood Art Gallery, Vermont College, 4 to 6 pm

Veteran musical theater director and voice teacher Carol Spradling Bruce works with students who bring challenges, music, ideas, and a love of singing. Class is accompanied by Daniel Bruce, musical director and pianist extraordinaire.

Wood Art Gallery, Vermont College, 4 to 6 pm

An Evening of Shostabrahmshwin!

Montpelier & Waterbury

A very special concert featuring Monteverdi faculty members Michael Close on cello, Eliza Thomas on piano and Joni McCraw on clarinet. The trio played a program of music from Schostakovich, Gershwin, and Brahms:

Shostakovich~Sonata for Cello and Piano in D- minor, opus 40
Brahms~Clarinet Trio in A-minor
Gershwin~3 Preludes for clarinet and piano

Admission was free to the public (donations welcome).
