Monteverdi/GMYS Chamber Music ProgramThe Monteverdi Music School and the Green Mountain Youth Symphony have joined together to offer a new chamber music program for fall 2010. While music students in central Vermont currently have great opportunities for performing in orchestras, bands, and choirs, and have an excellent selection of teachers for private lessons, opportunities for chamber music—small ensembles of three to five musicians—are harder to come by. With this new program, string players, pianists, winds, brass, and vocalists are invited to discover the joys of musicmaking on an intimate scale, with professional instruction and coaching by members of the Monteverdi faculty and GMYS. Musicians of all ages and all levels are welcome, as the faculty will form groups of players with similar skill levels. Each semester, the program will consist of 10 one-hour coaching sessions plus an end-of-semester recital. At the first session, groups will be formed and each group will receive music to learn and practice. After two weeks to learn the music, coaching sessions will begin. Students are encouraged to offer suggestions for music they would like to perform Registering for the Chamber Music ProgramTo enroll in the Monteverdi/GMYS chamber music program, please download the chamber music registration form and send in via e-mail or by regular mail or contact the director at 229-9000. NOTE: If you want to fill out the form on your computer, first save it to your hard drive and open it in Adobe Acrobat (Reader or full version). Then save again and e-mail to the school office. |
